Position Title: Assistant Sow Farm Manager
Description: Oversee day to day production of the reproductive herd, including, but not limited to: personnel management, including production and safety training; monitoring herd health and assurance of bio-security protocol adherence; ensuring sanitation of the facilities; maintaining adherence to production targets; managing both (artificial insemination) breeding and birthing support teams; assuring that both paper and computer records are kept accurately; monitoring ventilation, feeding and water systems; and communicating regularly with manager/owner.
Experience and knowledge required: Knowledge of computerized ventilation controls; knowledge of swine diseases and their early detection; experience with boar semen handling and storage, sow breeding and ultrasound checking for pregnancy;
Requirements and Qualifications: Use of Excel, Word and email, text messages; Bachelor of Science in Animal Science (minimum); at least one years’ experience in piglet production; understanding and adoption of HGPF production flow system; fluency in English, English Creole and knowledge of Spanish; valid driver’s license.
